Suspected Kidnapper Arrested in Niger State After Visiting Victim’s Home

The Niger State Police Command has arrested a suspected kidnapper, Nasiru Isyaka, in Kontagora Local Government Area. His arrest followed a deadly attack on Sabon-Gari Mangu Matachibu village on December 29, 2024, where armed men killed a resident and abducted two others. While security forces successfully rescued the victims, the perpetrators initially remained at large.

In a surprising twist, Isyaka was identified and apprehended on January 17, 2025, when he visited the home of one of the rescued victims. The victim recognized him as one of the kidnappers, leading to his swift arrest by operatives from ‘A’ Division in Kontagora. A locally made short gun was recovered from him during the investigation.

According to police spokesperson SP Wasiu Abiodun, Isyaka confessed to his involvement in the crime and has been transferred to the Police Headquarters in Minna for further investigation and prosecution. Authorities are continuing efforts to track down other members of the gang responsible for the attack.

The incident highlights the ongoing security challenges in Niger State, but the swift response by law enforcement underscores their commitment to ensuring justice. The police have reassured residents of their resolve to combat criminal activities and restore peace to affected communities.
