Sonnie Badu Pleads with Mahama to Forgive Sammy Gyamfi Over Viral Nana Agradaa Money Video
Gospel musician and philanthropist Sonnie Badu has issued a heartfelt appeal to President John Dramani Mahama and the First Lady, urging them to extend grace to Sammy Gyamfi, Managing Director of the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC). This comes in the wake of a controversial viral video showing Gyamfi handing over dollar bills to self-proclaimed evangelist Nana Agradaa—a scene that has ignited a firestorm of criticism, particularly among supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The video captures Agradaa making a public plea for money, to which Gyamfi responds by counting and handing over cash in U.S. dollars. The clip has since circulated widely across social media platforms, prompting concerns about the optics and timing of such a gesture, especially in the heat of the political season.
Addressing the backlash, Sonnie Badu acknowledged the optics weren’t ideal but called for empathy.
“Indeed, in a season such as this, it does not look good,” he stated candidly. “But please, show him mercy and give him a second chance,”
part of Badu’s post reads. The gospel star’s appeal is seen as a call for reconciliation and internal unity within the NDC, at a time when public perception can deeply affect political momentum.
With Badu’s respected voice weighing in, attention now turns to how the NDC leadership and its grassroots base will respond—will forgiveness prevail over controversy?
