Sarkodie is a Better Stage Performer Than Lil Wayne – Andy Dosty
Ghanaian media personality and Disc Jockey, Andy Dosty, has sparked a lively debate by comparing Ghanaian rapper Michael Owusu Addo, better known as Sarkodie, to American hip-hop legend Lil Wayne. Speaking on Hitz FM on Thursday, September 12, 2024, Andy praised both artists for their musical talents but confidently asserted that Sarkodie surpasses Lil Wayne in live performances.
While acknowledging Lil Wayne as one of his favorite rappers, Andy expressed disappointment with the U.S. star’s stage presence.
“He is a good rapper, a great performing artist when it comes to records, but on stage, I wasn’t impressed,” he remarked. Andy continued, “Lil Wayne is not just a rapper; he’s a complete musician. However, Sarkodie is a far better performer than Lil Wayne.”
The popular show host also touched on the recent controversy surrounding Lil Wayne being overlooked for the 2025 NFL Super Bowl halftime show, a spot that went to Kendrick Lamar. Andy suggested that Lil Wayne’s lackluster live performances might have played a role in the decision, stating,
“Lil Wayne won’t do anything. Trust me, if he’s put on that stage, nothing will happen. Look at Usher, Rihanna, and Michael Jackson—have you seen their shows? Even with good directors, Lil Wayne still wouldn’t cut it.”
Andy further shared his personal experience of attending a Lil Wayne concert during a visit to the U.S., where he was left unimpressed.
“I saw him perform, but there was nothing to see. I came home angry that day. I was with the boss of State Housing, Nana Appiah,” he recalled.
The comparison between Sarkodie and Lil Wayne has since generated discussions among fans, with many weighing in on the performance capabilities of both artists. Andy’s bold statement shines a light on the growing global recognition of African musicians like Sarkodie, whose stage presence continues to captivate audiences worldwide.
