John Mahama Intensifies Campaign in North East Region Following Positive Poll Results

John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is set to ramp up his campaign efforts in the North East Region, buoyed by promising poll results from Global Info Analytics suggesting his potential for electoral success.

This campaign move is particularly significant as it targets the home region of his main rival, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the governing New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer.

During his visit, Mahama plans to pay his respects at the palace of the late Gambaga chief and will also honor the Overlord of the Mamprugu Traditional Area, Naa Bohagu Abdulai Sheriga. His two-day campaign in Walewale, Dr. Bawumia’s hometown, will include community engagements and durbars, designed to connect with local voters and strengthen his support base.

The NDC is eager to capture the Walewale seat from the NPP, especially following recent internal disputes within the ruling party. These issues led to the selection of Dr. Abdul Kabiru, an economic adviser to the Vice President, as the NPP’s parliamentary candidate. Mahama’s campaign in the region aims to capitalize on these developments and rally support ahead of the elections.
