Highlife Icon Ofori Amponsah Shares Insight Into His Prophetic Gift and Personal Journey
Ghanaian highlife legend Ofori Amponsah recently opened up about his spiritual gift of prophecy, revealing that his ability to foresee future events preceded his celebrated music career.
In an interview on *The Day Show* with Berla Mundi, the “Emmanuella” hitmaker shared, “I don’t want to speak much about it today, but it’s a gift… I can sit down and say in the year 2020, this would happen.” He explained that this prophetic ability has long been a part of his life and that he often channels these visions through his music.
“Music was my platform,” he said, describing how he would incorporate these foreseen events into his lyrics. “For example, I am in the studio, and it comes to me that in 2020 this will happen, so I put it in the song because I don’t have a church.” This unique approach allows him to convey his insights while resonating with listeners, subtly infusing his spiritual awareness into his artistry.
Amponsah, who previously took a hiatus from the music scene to focus on his faith, clarified that this shift wasn’t about a newfound devotion but rather a return to his roots.
“I was already in church, singing and preaching before I became Ofori Amponsah,” he explained, noting that the break was motivated by personal challenges and a need for self-reflection. Reflecting on this period, he described it as transformative. “I was going wayward, and I needed to take a break. Now, I am more successful than I was before—hundred times more,” he said, emphasizing the growth he experienced through the journey.
Today, Ofori Amponsah stands as a celebrated figure who combines his music with a deeper spiritual perspective, creating a distinctive legacy that resonates beyond his songs.
