Ghanaian Passport Grants Access to these 50 Countries Without Traditional Visa Process
Ghanaian passport holders can currently travel to 50 destinations worldwide without undergoing the standard pre-travel visa application process. These arrangements include visa-free entry, visa-on-arrival (VOA), and electronic visas (e-visas), offering greater mobility for business, tourism, and diplomatic engagement.
The update was confirmed by Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who spoke on the sidelines of the African Union Summit in Addis Ababa. According to the Minister, the government is actively negotiating additional visa waiver agreements, with more expected to be finalised in the coming months.
The development reflects Ghana’s broader foreign policy strategy aimed at strengthening bilateral ties, promoting trade, and facilitating people-to-people connections. Expanded visa access enhances opportunities for entrepreneurs, investors, students, and tourists, while reinforcing Ghana’s position as an influential diplomatic player within Africa and beyond.
Should the anticipated agreements materialise, the number of accessible countries for Ghanaian travellers is expected to rise further, marking continued progress in passport strength and international mobility.
