Ghana Music Awards-USA CEO eyes Ho Central Parliamentary seat

Dennis Boafo, popularly known as Don D in the music industry, has revealed his intentions to contest the 2028 parliamentary primaries of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Ho Central Constituency.

Don D, renowned for his exceptional contributions to Ghanaian music in the diaspora, has successfully organized five editions of the Ghana Music Awards-USA. In an exclusive interview with Tony Best on Akoma Mmre on Akoma FM, he expressed his desire to channel his expertise and passion for the creative arts into shaping policies that will elevate Ghana’s music and arts industry.

“I am doing well as a person, running GMA USA successfully. Some may assume I’m venturing into politics for financial gain, but how much is a parliamentarian’s salary in Ghana? It’s peanuts,” he stated.

According to Don D, his motivation stems from a vision to utilize the platform of Parliament to make Ghana’s creative arts industry more attractive and globally competitive. He emphasized that his decision to enter politics is not driven by personal gain but by the potential to influence meaningful change in the sector.

If successful in his bid, Don D aims to bring his wealth of experience in the creative arts to the legislative house, ensuring the industry receives the attention and support it deserves.
