Ghana can win the AFCON For us – Stonebwoy
Ghanaian Reggae and Dancehall sensation Stonebwoy has rallied behind the national football team, the Black Stars, challenging them to clinch the coveted 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) trophy.
The acclaimed ‘Into the Future’ artist expressed his optimism about Ghana’s potential for victory, acknowledging the tournament’s challenges during a dinner organized by the President in Kumasi to bid farewell to the team ahead of the competition.
In a heartfelt message to the Black Stars on Tuesday night, Stonebwoy underscored his unwavering solidarity, urging the players to showcase stellar performances and, if possible, bring the African Cup home. The artist acknowledged the difficulty of the tournament but maintained a strong belief in the capabilities of the team and the technical staff.
“We are solidly behind them in all aspects. They should go and do us good and possibly win the African Cup for us in this tournament. Yes, it will come as a surprise to the whole of the world and Africa, but I have great belief in my brothers and the technical team,” Stonebwoy emphasized during the dinner event.
Stonebwoy’s connection with the team was evident as he shared his joy in the presence of players, the President, and everyone involved, particularly highlighting the camaraderie with captain Dede Ayew, whom he had met in Qatar.
As Ghana prepares to open its group stage campaign against Cape Verde on Sunday, January 14, 2024, Stonebwoy’s motivational words add an extra layer of encouragement for the Black Stars. The artist’s endorsement serves as a testament to the nation’s collective hope and belief that the team can overcome challenges and emerge triumphant in the prestigious AFCON tournament.
