Good news everyone! Despite the unfortunate incident that occurred earlier today, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has managed to contain the fire that broke out at the Kejetia market.
According to reports, portions of the redeveloped market were affected by the inferno. Although the cause of the fire is yet to be determined, the GNFS responded quickly to the emergency and battled the flames.
Despite facing some challenges, the officers were able to bring the fire under control. Our Ashanti Region reporter, Ibrahim Abubakar, earlier reported that “the situation is very very serious here,” but thanks to the swift intervention of the GNFS, the situation has been brought under control.
During the incident, traders were seen trying to salvage their wares as the thick smoke bellowed from the market. While some may have lost some of their merchandise, we are grateful that no casualties were reported.
We commend the GNFS for their prompt response and bravery in tackling the fire. We also extend our heartfelt sympathies to the affected traders and hope that they will recover soon.
