Black Stars’ new head coach Chris Hughton is reportedly scheduled to have a meeting with Crystal Palace midfielder Jeffrey Schlupp in London, with the aim of convincing him to reconsider his decision not to feature for the national team again. Schlupp had previously announced his retirement from international football after being dropped from the squad for the 2022 World Cup by former coach Otto Addo.

Schlupp, who scored his first goal for Ghana in a 7-1 victory against Mauritius in a qualifier for the African Cup of Nations in June 2015, has been in excellent form for Crystal Palace this season, with three goals and one assist in 33 Premier League games. His consistent performances have been instrumental in the team’s recovery during the second half of the season.

Meanwhile, Chris Hughton has also urged Ghanaians to support the local league by attending matches. In recent weeks, he has visited Tamale, Dawu, and Kumasi to watch Ghana Premier League matches. In a message broadcast on the Ghana Football Association’s social media pages, Hughton stated, “I urge everybody to follow the betPawa Premier League and watch as many games as possible as I will do.”

Hughton was officially unveiled as Ghana’s head coach last month, taking over from Otto Addo, under whom he previously served as technical advisor. Hughton has made an unbeaten start to his tenure, winning his opening two matches in charge of the Black Stars.
