Asantehene and Wife to Attend King Charles III’s Coronation in London

King Charles III of England has issued an invitation to Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and his wife, Lady Julia, to attend his coronation in London. The coronation ceremony of King Charles III and Her Majesty The Queen Consort will take place at Westminster Abbey on Saturday, May 6, 2023. The event is expected to feature a grand display of pageantry, with monarchs and global leaders from across the world in attendance.

A statement released on April 28 by Manhyia, the official residence of the Asantehene, announced that Otumfuo Asantehene and Lady Julia will attend the coronation ceremony. The statement read, “Otumfuo Asantehene and Lady Julia will join monarchs and global leaders from across the globe who will assemble at Westminster Abbey for what is expected to be a feast of pageantry marking the first coronation in over 70 years.”

The statement further disclosed that Otumfuo Asantehene and Lady Julia will have a private audience with King Charles at Buckingham Palace on May 4, 2023, prior to the coronation. They will also be in attendance at the King’s official reception for overseas guests on May 5, 2023.
