Ghanaian rap icon Sarkodie is making waves in academia as reports emerge that some Nigerian universities are considering studying his rap and artistry in their schools.

Sarkodie, who is not signed to any major record label, launched his own label, SarkCess Music, in 2014. , in 2014. He is celebrated for his independence and commitment to creative freedom, famously declaring,

“I will not sell my music for millions. I want my kids to make Sarkodie merch without clearing rights from anyone.”
