NPP’s Justin Kodua Urges Protection of Electoral Integrity Amid Alleged Violence
The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, has issued a stern warning against any attempts to manipulate the outcomes of Ghana’s parliamentary elections.
Speaking at a press conference on Sunday night, Kodua called on Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare to ensure law and order at collation centers nationwide to safeguard the credibility of the process.
Kodua accused supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of creating chaos in constituencies where he claims the NPP secured clear victories. He called on the NDC leadership to rein in their supporters and denounce acts of violence.
“We must not allow illegal looting and intimidation of our citizens. Indeed, data that made our flag bearer concede this morning shows clearly that the NPP has won the constituencies I’ve mentioned. But the NDC, knowing very well that they have lost these seats, is desperately seeking to compel the EC to do their bidding,” he asserted.
The NPP General Secretary condemned these alleged acts of violence and warned that the party would not tolerate any efforts to undermine the electoral results.
“We vehemently condemn these attacks and are serving notice that we shall resist every attempt to swiftly take action,” he said.
Kodua further reminded the IGP of his earlier promise to ensure free, fair, and transparent elections and urged him to act decisively against any illegal activities.
Kodua’s call emphasizes the need for fairness and security as the election results are finalized. He reiterated the importance of protecting citizens’ rights and maintaining public trust in Ghana’s democratic processes, urging the IGP to uphold his commitment to a transparent electoral environment.
