President Akufo-Addo Urges Africans to Shape the Continent’s Narrative for Investment and Prosperity
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has emphasized the need for Africans to actively contribute to making Africa a hub for investment, progress, and prosperity.
Speaking at the Full Circle Africa Economic Conference in Accra on Thursday, December 28, the President urged Africans and individuals of African descent to define their own narrative.
In a post on his Facebook page, President Akufo-Addo stated,
“We, thus, cannot allow temporary poverty and under-development to be the narrative of Africa, a continent that is so blessed with natural and human resources.”
He emphasized that Africans should be defined by their own perspectives and not by external narratives imposed upon them.
The President highlighted the importance of rejecting negative portrayals of Africa and working collectively to shape a positive destiny for the continent. He invoked a quote from Jamaican reggae artist Peter Tosh, “Don’t care where you come from; as long as you’re a black man, you’re an African.” President Akufo-Addo concluded by emphasizing that the destiny of all black people, regardless of their location, is intricately tied to the fate of Africa.
This call to action underscores the President’s commitment to fostering a positive and self-determined narrative for Africa, encouraging unity and collaboration among people of African descent globally.
