Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia Returns to Grassroots Engagement After Super Delegates Triumph
Dr. Bawumia Resumes ‘Connecting with the People’ Tour Following Resounding Victory.
Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is back on the ground, reconnecting with the grassroots of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the wake of his resounding triumph at the Super Delegates Conference held last month.
In a remarkable display of electoral strength, Dr. Bawumia secured a landslide victory in the August 26 elections, leaving his nine competitors to divide roughly 30% of the total votes cast. This resounding win positioned him as the front-runner among the contenders vying for one of the five coveted slots at the upcoming main congress in November.
Barely two weeks after his election victory, Dr. Bawumia has resumed his constituency engagements, with his current focus being on the Oti Region.
Over the next several days, Dr. Bawumia is scheduled to dedicate his time and efforts to the Oti Region before transitioning to the Volta Region to continue his grassroots interactions, aptly named the ‘Connecting with the People’ campaign.
During these engagements, the Vice President will directly connect and interact with polling station executives, electoral area coordinators, constituency executives, and Council of Elders in each constituency.
Dr. Bawumia’s commanding performance in the NPP flagbearership contest showcased his widespread appeal within the party. He achieved victory in every region, securing an impressive 68% of the valid votes cast. In contrast, his closest competitors, Kennedy Agyapong and Alan Kyerematen, trailed significantly in the 2nd and 3rd positions, respectively.
