Joyce Bawa Mogtari, Former President John Dramani Mahama’s Special Aide Leads Sanitary Pads Initiative for Girls’ Education

In a commendable effort to promote girls’ education and enhance menstrual hygiene, Joyce Bawah Mogtari, the Special Aide to former President John Dramani Mahama, presented a five-month supply of sanitary pads to 622 first-year students of Tamale Girls Senior High School on behalf of the Rosa Foundation-Africa.

The Foundation’s initiative aims to address the challenge of limited access to menstrual products, which often leads to girls abandoning their education. The provision of sanitary pads seeks to reduce the risk of infection and improve overall menstrual hygiene among young schoolgirls.

Research has highlighted the critical role that menstrual products play in ensuring girls’ consistent attendance at school. Mrs. Mogtari, alongside her family foundation, has pledged unwavering support to the 622 students throughout their three-year program, easing the financial burden on their families.

During the distribution of the sanitary pads, Mrs. Mogtari emphasized the significance of these products for the education and well-being of young girls. The donation is expected to positively impact the health, education, and future prospects of countless girls and women in Ghana.

In her address to the students, Mrs. Mogtari encouraged them to remain disciplined, studious, and well-prepared to contribute to the progress and development of Ghana and Africa.

The Rosa Foundation-Africa, established with the mission to empower and promote the girl child, endeavors to assist those who are unable to access necessary resources themselves. Over the years, the foundation has provided essential furniture for schools in various regions, including the Upper West Region, Eastern Region, and Savanna Region.

Supported by movie producer and actress Kafui Danku, as well as officials from the Rosa Foundation-Africa and school management, Mrs. Mogtari’s initiative is set to make a significant difference in the lives of young girls in the Tamale Girls Senior High School.

With a focus on empowering girls through education and ensuring their well-being, the Rosa Foundation-Africa continues to make strides in contributing to a brighter future for Ghana’s youth.
