Daddy Lumba Reveals How First Girlfriend Theresa Helped Him Succeed in Music Career and Life

Ghanaian highlife legend Daddy Lumba, real name Charles Kwadwo Fosu, has revealed the inspiration behind his hit song “Theresa,” dedicated to his first love, Theresa Abebrese. In a recent video on his official YouTube channel, Daddy Lumba shared the story of how Theresa played a significant role in his success as a musician and a well-to-do person.

According to Lumba, he met Theresa while they were both students at Juaben Senior High School in the Ashanti Region in the 1980s. Despite being a brilliant student, he was quiet in class, but Theresa noticed him, and they became friends. Eventually, Theresa provided him with all his needs, including clothing and food, while they were in school.

Theresa went on to play an even more significant role in Lumba’s life after they completed secondary school. She facilitated his travel to Germany, where he made a name for himself in the music industry.

“So all the music I was able to make in Germany and the fame I have would not have been possible if not for Theresa,” Lumba said, thanking his first love for all her contributions to his life.

Sadly, Theresa passed away in 2017, but Lumba continues to cherish her memory. In other news, Daddy Lumba and Nana Acheampong, his former partner in the Lumba Brothers, reunited on stage at the Kabfam Legends Night, with Lumba hailing Acheampong for introducing him to highlife music.
