At least 12 members of a Somalia militant group, Al-Shabaab, were killed recently by a US Airstrike, the United States Africa Command said on Friday.
The airstrike, which took place about 50 kilometres south-west of the capital city, Mogadishu, was coordinated with the help of Somali Government, the statement added, saying that no civilian was killed.
However, the militant group regularly launches attacks on hotels, government buildings and restaurants in the volatile nation in the Horn of Africa.
Al-Shabaab fighters also targets African Union and Somalia troops in some of their attack.
Affiliated with the al-Qaeda terrorist network, the group Al-Shabaab seeks to establish an Islamist state in Somalia.
Meanwhile, United State of America since 2007 has step-up supports to Somali Government and an African Union peacekeeping force of some 20,000 troops.
